Scouting Camp

During term one holidays, pastoral care students and teachers organised pastoral care camp/scouting. Students really loved the activities which included basic life survival skills that included, finding resources to build a shelter as a team, building a shelter that can take one person, starting a fire by using fire starter tools without using any matches - they were desperately trying to start the fire even when it started raining finally being successful in the end after a strong display of perseverance.

Chemistry Year 12 La-Trobe Excursion #2

On Tuesday the 28th of March, the year 12 chemistry students attended a program set up by LaTrobe University in Bundoora to provide the students with the experience of working in laboratory conditions that better simulated the conditions that they would be likely to experience if they chose to work in the field. However, the benefits of the program extended beyond the experience of university laboratory conditions. The program also solidified the concepts of molar enthalpy of solutions and fuel production, whilst also introducing future concepts such as equilibrium and chemical kinematics, preparing the students for those topics for when they would cover them in class.

Overall, the experience was quite enjoyable and was very informative as it provided us with an insight into what it is like to be at Uni, and more excursions as beneficial as this one would be welcomed in the future.

I would like to thank Mr. Addo and the other coordinators at the school, as well as the people at LaTrobe for making this experience possible.
